My design philosophy is all about taking what we have, changing how we think about it and reusing it. This topiary park in Columbus, Ohio is a great example of just that! Taken from a piece of fine art they have created an entire sculptural garden!

Inspired from Georges Seurat painting “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte” there are about 80 trees that are clipped and trained into 54 humans, eight boats, three dogs, a monkey and a cat. I am amazed at the detail in these. They go as far as making sure the boat man has his pipe, and the women have buns in their hair.  At the viewing point there is a bronzed relief “painting” of the original so you can compare how this park mimics the painting.

What do you have in your home you can re-think about and turn into something else?
